Automating an Access & SQL Database

May 16 @ 4:00 - 6:00

Every time a client says “Can we get people to enter data on the web for this?” my heart sinks. My brain doesn’t have enough space to remember what little it knows and also add information about C#, ASP .NET and all the other required topics. So, I’ve always chickened out at this point.

Peter B has presented before on using PowerApps, which is a really interesting solution, but comes with a number of license-related headaches.

Faced again last year with this problem on a project for Oxford University, I leveraged a number of technologies:

* Cognito Forms for a powerful, flexible, no-code web form that can be embedded on a website with no licensing costs
* Make – to automate moving the data to the tables, as well as running as many stored procs as you can eat, and
* SQL Azure to hold the data
